Sandtray

Sandtray gives you a hands-on way to show what's on your mind, using a tray of sand and a collection of miniatures.

What sandtray therapy is

Sandtray therapy uses a tray of sand and a collection of small figures and objects. You choose miniatures and arrange them in the sand to build a scene, sometimes called a "world." Building the scene is part of the work, so it doesn't depend on finding the right words.

What a session can look like

Miniatures usually include people, animals, buildings, nature pieces, fantasy figures and everyday objects. After a tray is built, we might talk about the scene, or simply notice it together. There's no right or wrong way to build a tray, and no art or play skills are needed.

Who it's often used with

Sandtray is used with children, teens and adults. Because it's hands-on and doesn't rely only on talking, it can be a comfortable option for people who find it hard to put things into words.

Melissa to confirm: anything specific about how she uses sandtray

Every child, teen, family and adult is different. If you're not sure which approach is right, that's exactly what a consultation is for.

Play Therapy

Play is how kids naturally communicate. Sessions use toys, games and creative materials so children can express feelings in their own language.
