Expressive Arts

Expressive arts uses creative work to explore feelings and experiences. It's about the process, not making something perfect.

What expressive arts therapy is

Expressive arts therapy uses creative processes, such as drawing, painting, collage, clay, music, movement or storytelling, as a way to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences. The focus is on the process of making something and what comes up along the way, not on how it turns out.

What a session can look like

A session might start with a simple invitation, like drawing how your week felt or building something out of clay, and then talking about it if that feels right. You never need to be "good at art."

Melissa to confirm: which creative materials and activities she offers

Who it's often used with

Expressive arts can be used with all ages, from young children to adults.

Every child, teen, family and adult is different. If you're not sure which approach is right, that's exactly what a consultation is for.

Play Therapy

Play is how kids naturally communicate. Sessions use toys, games and creative materials so children can express feelings in their own language.
